You have a problem and you are looking at a product to provide a solution. Even if you get something for cheap or free that does not solve the actual problem, what did you win?
While I stand in Sea World, watching the pelicans with their broken or missing wings caused by boat hits and the like, I get sidetracked by the jetski show as the smell and white clouds of fuel gets into my nose. I suddenly notice the noise of the idling helicopter in the background that is waiting to take off again to take the next load of tourists for a spin. It’s running continuously and never stops during opening times.
I recall the talk of the dolphin trainers about the environmental awareness that the park is trying to teach its visitors and that all depends on our choices that we are doing on a daily basis. This starts to sound very shallow when looking at all the energy and the fuel burnt on a daily basis in this park. I would love to see some action to the words and the environmental awareness.
It would appear a rather normal day, however when you look at it at the end of it, you discover that actually a lot happened and all for a better. As such I decided to once write a real blog – just something about me and myself – about burning towers, GSNZAP and carboNZero.
Nothing eco today really, but something that might help in your daily life. Reading through the net, a lot of people seem to be having issues with this but hardly any answers to it. Most of those smart plugin-devices are not smart at all but constantly send wireless signals to your router, slowly frying you and charging you up. They usually do not adjust their signal strength and have hardly any interface to set up and adjust anything other than the most critical things, the things they were designed for. And some of them can even be highjacked by hackers.
Again and again I am astonished as to how long it takes for a great idea for a design until it becomes mainstream.
It likewise amazes me how we design things on a daily basis, the things that are not the great inventions but just things like buildings and infrastructure.
In Silicon Valley and beyond, there are still many advocates of the idea that teams have to work in the same physical place to reach their fullest potential. Remember the uproar when Yahoo banned working from home? Well, I work with a distributed workforce of more than 70 high-tech professionals spread across more than 20…
A Swedish family has eaten only organic food for two weeks as part of a study conducted by The Swedish Environmental Research Institute. The study – commissioned by Swedish supermarket chain Coop – saw the family dramatically change its diet, with impressive results. A video about the study introduced the family of five, with mother…
